Nowadays, with the online
business world surging, I find it harder and harder to understand interview
etiquette.
Are the days gone where one showed up 15 minutes early in your best “business
attire” and had polite conversation? I’ve seen people show up to interviews
wearing jeans and a t-shirt, and I wonder “Is that how one goes to interviews
now?”
Interview
etiquette is something that is just as important as what you say in an
interview. It shows some key details to the type of person you are, and whether
you will fit well for the job.
Job
Interview Etiquette Tips to Remember:
- Arrive early. Giving yourself time to mentally prepare, as well as showing a prospective employer that you care about his/her time.
- Dress for the job you want. Research the type of environment that you are applying for and dress to impress. Clean outfits, well put together will always give a better impression than jeans and a tee.
- Leave your phone in the car! Nothing says uninterested than playing on your phone. And you definitely don’t want your phone to interrupt what could be the best interview ever.
- Bring extra copies of your resume. Although it should be stated before an interview, there might just be more than one interviewer, or a group interview. Always better to be prepared.
Do you have any tips that might be useful regarding interview
etiquette?
