Many people wonder how Volunteering helps your career, from community work, welfare, special needs assistance and youth work, it can all help you progress.

And volunteering helps your career in many different ways. It is a great stepping stone as it enables you to interact with many other people. Being that you can volunteer in so many ways and in so many different places, the possibilities are endless. It helps communication skills, social and relationship skills, increases self-confidence and helps teach valuable job skills. It has a slight advantage for students especially as it allows you to try out a new career without having to make a long-term commitment and to gain experience in a new field. Many different people at your volunteering placement can help benefit your career by exposing you to different organizations or internships that may further down the line consider employing you.
Most of all finding a volunteering program you enjoy can give you a sense of relaxation, fun and fulfillment.

Considering your goals and interests, try to incorporate that into volunteering on the side. Many people end up doing a career that was not their ultimate dream job so volunteering can help you achieve that.
